They'll Be Back...Believe Me They'll Be Back

How the Seahawks Will Recover From Their Devastating Loss

Wilson after winning the Super Bowl in his 2nd season
February 1st, 2015. Approximately 5 seconds after Russell Wilson just threw the biggest interception of his life, on America's biggest stage. Seahawks fans around the world screamed in horror after what they witnessed, Tom Brady jumped up and down screaming like a little schoolgirl, and many screamed "WHAT THE FUCK?!?!" at their TV's. Wilson's reaction? Claps his hands in frustration, hangs his head, and jogs back to the sideline. Doesn't slam his helmet (which, by the way, is exactly what I would have done. I get mad when I throw an interception in Madden, you just blew winning the Super Bowl..), he doesn't start screaming, or yelling at the refs. Obviously upset, an justifiably so I mean come on you were so close.... He definitely wasn't as upset as Seahawks fans were, and I think that's what you need in a quarterback... A guy who can be okay with making a mistake here and there - even in the biggest game on the biggest play. I believe this loss and the bitter taste it left in their mouths will add fuel to the fire of the already incredibly talented Seahawks roster.

With all these so-called experts saying Pete Carroll and the Seahawks cannot recover from their loss to the Patriots because it was so heartbreaking...please, just stop talking. Nobody can question how talented they are, that they've already proven to the entire league. What they can do now is go out next season and show everyone that their back, and now they're pissed. They're pissed they lost the Super Bowl, and they want another crack at the Lombardi Trophy. They convinced Marshawn Lynch to come back for two more years, they now have Pro Bowl tight end Jimmy Graham, they still have Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas, Kam Chancellor and Bruce Irvin on defence. And they still have Russell Wilson at quarterback. The dude just wins, and love him or hate him - and I know a lot of people hate him, he's a damn good football player, and he's also just 26 years old.

He's the model for how scrambling quarterbacks should play in the NFL. Being able to read coverages, throw an accurate deep ball, and be able to scramble and ad-lib when necessary without taking a big hit. Wilson does all three of those and then some. Granted, having Marshawn Lynch as your running back and an above average offensive line helps, but he makes average receivers Doug Baldwin and Jermaine Kearse look great on a week by week basis. He is one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL after the ball is snapped, and he has an uncanny ability to see routes defenders are taking and being able to avoid taking a big hit. The biggest thing for quarterbacks is staying healthy, and if you can run, pass, and stay healthy, then more power to you.

Wilson is the fluke in the craze that was "scrambling" quarterbacks. I'm pretty sure it's obvious to everyone now that you need a pocket-passing QB to win in the NFL, but Wilson was able to take aspects of your typical pocket-passing QB, and aspects of what you find in a scrambling quarterback. Being able to dodge defensive linemen and the ability to outrun linebackers. Wilson has above average speed, and picks when to run so effectively that it's easy for him to run for 15-20 yards consistently. He has led in every single game he's ever started, playoffs and regular season (56 straight games), including both Super Bowls against future Hall of Fame quarterbacks Peyton Manning & Tom Brady.

I guess to finish off I would just say... don't count the Seahawks out. I mean really, who else in the NFC has as talented of a roster? Green Bay? Ok maybe, but let's see them actually be able to beat Seattle in Seattle and then we can talk about these two teams being equal. As of right now the Seahawks are my favourite to make it out of the NFC and play in a 3rd straight Super Bowl. They're pissed and re-tooled. Watch out NFL.
